Trip planner
Plan your Ireland route
Tell us where you land, where you fly home from, how many nights you have and how you want to get around. You get a route with a base for each stretch, nights in each, and how long each move takes.
How the planner works
The planner picks bases, not one-night stops. Each base gets at least the nights it needs to be worth unpacking, and it avoids long backtracking. It weighs your interests, but it will not route you somewhere that takes most of a day to reach on a short trip.
How are the drive times worked out?
They come from OpenStreetMap routing for the fastest car route, with 15 per cent added because Irish rural roads are slower than the maps assume. Check the route on the day, especially in summer.
Can I plan a trip without a car?
Yes. Pick "No car" and the planner only uses bases that have a scheduled train or bus link, and tells you which operator runs it. Check the timetable before you book.
Does the planner book anything?
No. It suggests a route and how many nights to spend in each base, and links to our guide for each one.
